Musick Studios Take Over Chicago
This past weekend, Musick Studios took Chicago by storm.
From January 9th through January 11th, we traveled north to participate in the Press Play Competition, and what an experience it was. Over the course of the weekend, there were 41 performances, including a very special milestone for our family, my daughter’s first-ever duo performance on a competition stage.
What made this weekend even more meaningful was the overwhelming support from home. The audience was peppered with families from the Daviess County community, along with others from beyond, all making the six-hour drive to Chicago to support their kids, grandkids, nieces, and nephews. You could feel the love in the room as these young dancers poured their hearts into every single routine.
And the results spoke for themselves.
We brought home several awards, placed in the Top 5 in many categories, and even captured 1st place in a couple of performances. But beyond the trophies, the experience itself was unforgettable.
The Press Play Competition was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. From massive TV screens framing the stage to portraits of the dancers displayed just before they performed, the entire setup brought a level of professionalism that felt straight out of a televised production. It elevated the moment, not just for the dancers, but for everyone watching.
The kids were hyped.
The parents were hyped.
The energy was electric.
And this much is clear. Musick Studios knows how to build a competition team. The instructors, the dancers, and the owner all played a role, and it showed in every performance. The preparation, the passion, and the unity were on full display all weekend long.
Chicago didn’t just host a competition. It witnessed what happens when hard work, community, and belief come together on one stage.
What a weekend.
