🌾 For this week’s Meal in the Field, we spent some time with Neil and Kevin Rudy in Owensboro, KY!
Neil and Kevin are a father-son duo who grow corn and soybeans across a large amount of land. Kevin has been farming alongside his dad for as long as he can remember, starting when he was just a kid helping out in the fields. It’s a tradition that goes back even further, with Neil carrying on the farming life from his family before Kevin followed in his footsteps.
We also learned a little about Kevin’s papaw, who worked in the coal mines around Rudy Hills and hauled coal with a donkey. It’s a pretty interesting piece of family history, and a reminder of how much things have changed over the generations!
We were grateful for the chance to share a meal with Neil and Kevin and recognize the hard work and family tradition they continue to carry on through their farm.
