The future of Daviess County volleyball was on full display this week while the Daviess County Volleyball team welcomed young athletes from across the community to its annual volleyball camp on July 28 and 29. Walking into the gym and seeing it filled with girls learning the game, competing and having fun was an exciting sight for Daviess County Head Coach Tyla Bailey, better known as “Coach T.”
For Coach T, the camp is about much more than teaching volleyball. It also gives her current players an opportunity to become leaders. Coach T loves watching her players work with the younger generation, teaching them the same skills and fundamentals they use on the court while helping grow their love for the game. Volleyball has changed a lot since Coach T played in high school, and she enjoys seeing how the sport continues to evolve. Even more exciting is seeing the enthusiasm from the young girls who could someday work their way through the ranks and become Daviess County Panthers themselves. Campers received a T-shirt and spent the two-day camp learning volleyball skills and fundamentals directly from members of the Daviess County Volleyball team.
But while camp was about developing the next generation, there is plenty of excitement surrounding the current generation of Daviess County volleyball as well. Coach T is looking forward to creating the kind of atmosphere this season that players and fans want to be a part of. The goal is simple: get Daviess County volleyball back to where it should be. With seven seniors returning, the Panthers will have plenty of experience and leadership on the court as they head into the new season. If the energy inside the gym during this week’s camp is any indication, it should be an exciting year for Daviess County volleyball.
The future is learning the game and the seniors are ready to lead. Coach T and the Panthers are ready to get to work!
