There’s something special happening right here in Owensboro, and it’s rooted in community, nature, and people willing to give their time to make a difference.
On this week’s Volunteer Owensboro Minute, powered by American Legion Post 9, I sat down in the studio with Brooklyn Johnson, Executive Director of the Joe Ford Nature Center. If you haven’t been out there lately, it’s more than just trails and scenery. It’s a place where people connect, learn, and get involved.
Brooklyn shared how the Nature Center serves families, students, and individuals looking to unplug and be part of something meaningful. It is also a great place to volunteer. Whether you have a few hours, want to bring your family, or get a group involved, there are opportunities to help with programs, events, and keeping the grounds going strong.
One thing that stood out is how easy it is to get started. You do not need experience, just a willingness to show up and help.
There are always programs and events coming up, so it is a great time to get plugged in and be part of what is happening right here in Owensboro.
Volunteering does not have to be complicated. A little bit of time can make a big difference.
This is your Volunteer Owensboro Minute, powered by American Legion Post 9, highlighting the people and places making an impact in our community.
