Cole Falloway has had quite the week in Florida during the DIRTcar Nationals.
The Owensboro, KY driver wrangled his fifth gator trophy on Thursday night at the Volusia Speed Park in De Leon Springs, FL.
The driver of the No. 66 started in the 4th position and quickly made it into the top three on lap number one. By lap 4, the Kentucky racer had moved into the 2nd position and set his sights on the lead.
It was a battle of the Kentucky drivers as Falloway battled with Crofton’s Trent Young, before capturing the lead on lap number 9.
Falloway still sees room for improvement headed into Saturday’s Big Gator title on Saturday.
“Everybody is working hard and getting better,” he said. “We got to do that too. I wasn’t as good tonight as I have been and some of it might have been me. I kind of moved around some to move by Trent there and kind of stayed around the bottom, but I should’ve moved back up. I think we have a good car and a good shot as long as everything goes good.”
The open wheel modified racers will battle again on Friday in six seperate features, which will be divided by points earned throughout the week.
