The vote was unanimous Tuesday by the Owensboro City Commission to move forward with actions to condemn the former Gabe’s Tower and tear it down. According to the Messenger-Inquirer, the municipal order authorizes the proceedings under the state’s eminent domain law. Officials say the developers failed to meet a deadline to inform the city of their plans, and pay a $270,000 performance bond promising work will be done. City officials want the property for a new Owensboro Transit System bus station. Attorney and assistant city manager Ed Ray says the condemnation petition will be filed within 45 days.
