One person is dead after an accident on KY 144 Wednesday. According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, at around 8:45pm, Central Dispatch received a call of a single vehicle accident in the 4900 block of KY 144 near Owensboro Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Initial investigation indicates that an eastbound passenger car was passing vehicles at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle, leaving the roadway and striking a ditch. The driver of the vehicle suffered serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Daviess County Coroner’s Office. There were no other passengers in the vehicle, nor any other vdhicles involved.
DCSO Patrol Division, DCSO Accident Reconstruction Unit, Daviess County Fire Department, Thruston-Philpot Fire Department, Daviess County Coroner’s Office and AMR Ambulance Service all responded to the scene. KY 144 was closed for approximately 2 hours between the US 60 Bypass and KY 405 for DCSO to reconstruct the scene. The identity of the driver involved in the fatality will be released by the Daviess County Coroner’s Office at a later time.
