Four people have been arrested on controlled substance charges as a result of a joint investigation. According to the Owensboro Police Department, the Street Crimes Unit was contacted Monday by the Detention Center in reference to a suspected delivery of controlled substance. DCDC staff had received information that controlled substance would be delivered to a specified location within the community to be picked up by a work release inmate. After the delivery the work release inmate would smuggle the items into the detention center and provide the contraband to another inmate. During the course of the investigation SCU detectives were able to observe the delivery of the controlled substance and identify both the individuals delivering the items and the inmate receiving the controlled substance. DCDC deputies worked closely with SCU detectives and were able to locate a quantity of Suboxine within the body cavity of the inmate observed receiving the delivery.
