(Owensboro, KY)- Windy Hollow Speedway held their “Labor Day Blowout” on Sunday night complete with an evening of exciting racing and firework show.
The highlight of the event was the $500 Economies feature event which saw 14 entries in Windy Hollow’s newest division battle for the big money on the 3/8 mile D-shaped oval.
In an exciting finish, it was Moseleyville’s Aaron Rafferty taking home the win, despite contact with the wall exiting the final turn on the final lap. Mark Van Winkle of Evansville finished in 2nd followed by Brandon Reed.
Aaron Rafferty has grown up around both Windy Hollow Dragway and Windy Hollow Speedway by watching the races, working at both tracks, and also with the Moseleyville Volunteer Fire Department.
“It means alot,” said an emotional Rafferty in his post-race interview.
Rafferty’s win was a popular one with a crowd full of fans cheering as Rafferty crossed the line and fans filled the front stretch for post-race pictures.
