A California man was arrested early Saturday morning after a multi-county chase. According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, deputies received a call around 12:45am that a pursuit was headed for daviess County from Henderson. The chase had originated in Union County. Spike strips had been used to try to stop the driver, and he was still traveling at a high rate of speed with no front tires. Daviess County deputies joined the chase and the suspect pulled into Audubon Elementary School at the Worthington Road intersection. After causing damage to school property and nearly hitting a deputy head-on, the suspect was taken into custody. He was identified as 35-year-old Jacob Lawrence of San Diego. Lawrence was charged with Fleeing and Evading, Wanton Endangerment, Criminal Mischief, Reckless Driving, and Speeding. He was taken back to Union County where he also faces narcotics charges.
