An annual report from CNBC shows Indiana is the 7th worst state to live in and work in. One reason why Indiana’s ranking was so poor is from a lack of child care availability. For every 100,000 Hoosiers, there’s only 10 licensed childcare facilities in the state. Child Care Aware says that’s the second worst in the entire country. Lawmakers have tried to help by expanding the state’s early childhood care system. They’ve increased the income limit to qualify for childcare assistance and changed the way child care facilities are reimbursed.Lawmakers won’t be able to change child care funding until 2025.
