Effective July 1, 2023, all motor homes, travel and fifth-wheel trailers, and pull-behind and pop-up campers will be subject to Kentucky’s 6 percent motor vehicle usage tax.

That means when any recreational vehicle is sold, the buyer will pay the 6 percent at the time of transfer. The change is due to state legislation enacted this year.
