(Lexington, KY) — An expert at the University of Kentucky is sharing her thoughts about the challenges facing the search for the missing submarine bound for the Titanic shipwreck. Doctor Andrea Erhardt is an associate professor at UK who studies oceanography. She says the submarine could be as far down at 12-thousand feet – that’s the depth of two Grand Canyons. Erhardt says the intense pressure and pitch blackness that far down make it hard to navigate. The search is ongoing but officials believe the oxygen supply is running out. There are five people on board.
