PADUCAH, Ky. (June 16, 2023)– The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has reduced the load limit to 5 tons on KY 120 near the Crittenden-Webster County Line.
The KY 120 Tradewater River Overflow Bridge at Crittenden County mile point 16.542 is restricted to a 5-ton load limit effective immediately.
The load rating was ordered reduced after a KYTC inspector found significant deterioration of the bridge substructure. The bridge is one of two bridges that cross a slough immediately west of the main Tradewater River Bridge between Marion and Providence.
A project to replace the bridge is on the KYTC bid schedule this summer, with work to replace the structure expected to start sometime this fall.
The 5-ton load restriction will be posted immediately at the ends of the bridge structure. Commercial truck drivers are responsible for obeying bridge weight restrictions. Trucks and other vehicles that exceed the 5-ton load limit should seek an alternate route appropriate for their weight classification.
