The residents of Whitesville have spoken, and they voted to allow alcohol sales within the city limits. The vote Tuesday night was 114 to 56 in favor, with residents voting at the fire station. According to media partner 14News, citizens on both sides had specific reasons for their viewpoints. Those against alcohol said it would bring problems, not raise that much added revenue, and disrupt the quiet atmosphere. Supporters said alcohol was already being sold just outside of town, and it’s legal all over Daviess County. Next, Whitesville City Council will soon set the price for a business to acquire a liquor license.
