Owensboro, KY – Habitat for Humanity Owensboro-Daviess County will be hosting a community blood drive on Friday, May 12, 2023, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, at their office located at 2930 W. 4th Street in Owensboro, Kentucky. Habitat is hosting this blood drive as a way to give back to the community as they kick off ticket sales for their Habitat Hut Raffle.
“Hosting an event like this is so much fun. The community gets to support the mission of two local nonprofits, and those organizations are blessed by a multiple of 2 by the partnership,” said Jeremy Stephens, Executive Director at Habitat. “We’ll have a complimentary Rolling Pin doughnut to the first 120 people to give blood and the Blue Moon Coffee Truck will be here as well,” said Stephens.
The Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center will bring their Bloodmobile to Habitat for Humanity for this blood drive. All donors must be at least 17 years old (or 16 with parental consent), weigh at least 115 pounds, check medications with center staff, the donor should have eaten a good meal prior to donation, and must allow 56 days between donations, and have a valid photo ID to present to the center staff. All blood donors will receive the “Bigfoot” t-shirt from the Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center.
“WKRBC is thrilled to partner with Habitat for Humanity in the continued caring for the residents of our community,” said Janet Howard, Chief Executive Officer of Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center. “Both organizations have been serving the Daviess County area since the 1970’s and have a mission to better lives whether it is by hammering nails or donating blood. We all have it in us to make our community a better place to live. Please support Habitat in their “fun” fundraising activities and join WKRBC on the bloodmobile at Habitat on Friday, May 12th to donate blood,” Howard concluded.
While giving blood, Habitat will have tickets available for their Habitat Hut Raffle. Purchases can be made with check, cash, or virtually with PayPal or Venmo. One winner will receive a custom designed backyard shed, 55 inch TV, weber gas grill, recliner, and two barstools. The winner will be drawn on July 7th.
