The parents of the gunman behind a deadly mass shooting at a bank in Louisville say their son should not have been able to buy a gun with his mental health background. In an exclusive interview on the “TODAY” show, Todd and Lisa Sturgeon said they never imagined their 25-year-old son could carry out a violent attack on innocent people. They explained he suffered from anxiety, panic attacks, and once attempted suicide, but he was seeing two mental health professionals and taking medication. In the days leading up to the shooting, his mother said he was experiencing a crisis and met with psychiatrist. In that same time frame, he also bought the gun and ammunition he used to kill five people and injure eight others.
