A Utica man was killed and two female passengers were injured in a one-vehicle accident Saturday evening. According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called to the 2100 block of KY 140 East in Utica around 5:37pm. A 1973 Pontiac Firebird had run off the road, striking a ditch embankment. Investigators determned the car had veered off the roadway and traveled across a field before hitting the ditch. The driver, 53-year-old David Jones of Utica, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two female passengers, 35-year-old Laura Navarette of Owensboro and 37-year-old Linda Reynolds of Whitesville, were taken by ambulance and Air-Evac with serious injuries. Speed seemed to be the only contributing factor in the crash. It remains under investigation.
