Habitat for Humanity Owensboro-Daviess County is having groundbreaking ceremonies for their next two builds on Friday starting at 10am.
“2023 is going to be a big year for our organization and we are starting with two houses,” said Jeremy Stephens, Executive Director at Habitat. “These ceremonies are so special. We gather as an organization with Board Members, volunteers, Habitat applicants, and the future homeowners and their families to celebrate the first step in building their house. We then pray together in hopes
everyone will stay safe in the process it takes to turn an empty lot, into a house, and then finally, into a home!” Stephens concluded.
Habitat’s groundbreaking ceremony for Habitat house build #153 at 2015 W. 10th Street will be 10am, followed by another groundbreaking ceremony for Habitat house build #154 at 1907 Alexander Avenue at 10:45. Habitat for Humanity Owensboro-Daviess County is planning on building 8-10 houses in 2023 with additional plans to break ground in July on a first time homeowner training facility. It will be the first of its kind in the United States and will be named Ms. Virginia’s Education and Training Center, in honor of Habitat’s former Executive Director, Virginia Braswell.
