Empty Bowls of Owensboro will award their two recipients with the results of the recent fund-raising dinner and silent auction, Wednesday at noon. It will take place near the fountain in the Quad on the campus of Brescia University. Last week, the organization raised funds for Alive Community Outreach and The Shepherd’s Hand, Incorporated. Neither organization is aware of the amount that will be presented to them. Anyone is welcome to attend. The annual fundraiser dinner and silent auction, presented by Five Star Food Service, took place on October 20 at Sts. Joseph & Paul Parish Hall with more than 200 in attendance. A ticket allowed attendees to select a ceramic bowl from hundreds of handcrafted bowls made especially for this event by local artisans, community members and students at Brescia University. Each attendee chose from numerous soup options served by “celebrity servers.” In 2021, the Empty Bowls event raised $16,000 for the Daniel Pitino Shelter.
