(Owensboro, KY) — A Black education pioneer is speaking at a public event in Owensboro. Wesley Acton graduated from Brescia University in 1960 where he is returning to speak on October 20th. Acton became a teacher in 1961 when he became the first Black person to teach at an integrated school in Daviess County. He worked in education for almost 60 years and will speak at the event to give advice and inspiration to the next generation of educators.
