The alert is put out by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet for drivers to be prepared for deer on the move. Cooler evenings and fewer daylight hours cause deer to emerge earlier in the day. Kentucky ranks 15th in the nation for deer-vehicle crashes with October, November and December accounting for more than half of reported collisions. Drivers in the state face a one in 100 chance of hitting a deer.
