A local organization that strives to help the community has received a much needed surprise donation. Travis Owsley with Beverly’s Hearty Slice tells media partner 14News that a man he recently met at an airport has given $10,000 to the organization. Mark Gaunya, CEO of Boston-based Captivated Health, became interested after talking with Owsley, and they corresponded for several weeks. Then Gaunya sent the check. Members of Beverly’s Hearty Slice gather in public places in the area, giving out free pizza, along with bottled water and hygiene kits. Owsley says he created the nonprofit in honor of his late mother and as a way to keep kids off the street, help with diversity and spread positivity.
