Hopkins County is getting millions to help recover from the December tornadoes that devastated western Kentucky. It’s part of the $120.8 million recently approved by lawmakers for the WKY State Aid Funding for Emergencies (SAFE) fund. The first to receive SAFE funding is Hopkins County, which will use $8.5 million to offset the cost of debris removal that is ineligible for FEMA assistance. As many as 19 additional applications for SAFE funding will be filed in the coming weeks.
