Social workers in Kentucky are getting a raise. It’s part of a proposal to attract and retain social workers. Starting December 16, all Kentucky social workers and family support staff will receive an immediate 10% raise. The Cabinet for Health and Family Services also plans to hire new social workers within 7 days of applying. Governor Andy Beshear will propose loan forgiveness for social workers in his next budget and will recommend hero pay for the employees. The effort comes as more than 600 social services workers in Kentucky have quit or retired this year.
