More details about the murder of Pop Smoke has emerged. According to The New York Daily News, LAPD Detective Carlos Camacho testified that the rapper was murdered by a 15-year-old over a Rolex. As previously reported, on February 19th, 2020, the group of intruders broke into Pop Smoke's rented Airbnb in the Hollywood Hills and tried to take his Cuban link chain but the only got away with a rolex, which they later resold for $2,000.
The alleged shooter is now facing murder and robbery charges in th case. He allegedly admitted to shooting the rapper during a recorded interview with a cellmate at juvenile detention last May.
Camacho testified, “He admitted that he shot the victim three times with a Baretta 9 mm..” The alleged shooter also “admitted that they asked for the jewelry” and then had “a confrontation” during the home invasion. Camacho added, “They got into a fight, and he shot him three times. He said he shot him on the back.”
Camacho continued, “He said that when the individuals got inside, the suspects confronted Pop Smoke, who was in the shower naked.”
If convicted as charged, Walker could face the death penalty.
