Tamarack Elementary School is hosting a fifth-grade promotion ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday, May 17.
In addition to celebrating the achievements of students who will graduate and continue their educations in middle school next year, this year’s program will include a meaningful remembrance of Kalie Jo Stiles.
Kalie Jo, who was a third-grade student at TES, would have been among the fifth-graders graduating from Tamarack this year. She experienced a medical emergency at school in 2017; members of the TES staff were able to resuscitate her, which allowed her family to have about eight weeks of precious time with their loved one before she passed away on May 13.
The 2019 graduation will include “an empty chair” and a special dedication ceremony in honor of Kalie Jo’s memory. Her family will be in attendance as this shining “Tamarack Star” is remembered.
