On Monday, July 9, 2018 at 1:22 pm, the Owensboro Police Department responded to the 900 Block of Turtle Creek Drive on a suicidal subject who had barricaded himself inside the residence. The subject was threatening family members with a gun and he was also threatening to harm himself. The family was able to escape the residence unharmed prior to police arriving.
The subject initially spoke to officers on the phone; however he cut off communication after a short time. Members of the Owensboro Police Department Crisis Negotiations Unit, Emergency Response Team, and Hazardous Device Unit all responded to the scene. They were assisted by the Owensboro Fire Department and Yellow Ambulance.
At 6:08 pm, the subject was taken into custody. An arrest warrant for Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (Class D Felony) and Terroristic Threatening 3rdDegree (Class A Misdemeanor), related to this incident, was served and he was also charged with Resisting Arrest (Class A Misdemeanor).
He is currently at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital Emergency Depart ment being treated for minor injuries prior to being lodged at the Daviess County Detention Center.
