FRANKFORT, Ky. (August 29, 2017) – Representative Robby Mills, the Republican who represents Henderson and Daviess Counties, was named Legislator of the Year by the Kentucky Association of Career Colleges and Schools (KACCS) last week.
KAACS works with local and state officials, businesses and industries in Kentucky to create and maintain excellence in the private, career education sector in the Commonwealth by formulating solutions to problems affecting the fields of trade, technical, business and career education and training.
“It was an honor for me to be named Legislator of the Year by the KAACS,” said Rep. Mills. “Their work is critically important to ensuring that Kentucky has highly-skilled workers capable of filling jobs in fields that businesses have had difficulty filling. As a small business owner, I understand how important it is to local businesses like Century Aluminum, Gibbs Die Casting, and others to have access to well-trained employees in order be successful.”
Rep. Mills sponsored legislation this past session reducing the excessive hours of education required to obtain a cosmetology license from 1,800 to 1,500 hours, which puts Kentucky on a level playing field with neighboring states and creates a more friendly business environment for salon owners. Rep. Mills is Vice-Chair of the Transportation Committee and serves on the Local Government Committee, the Tourism and Outdoor Recreation Committee, and the Budget Review Subcommittee on Transportation.
