Deputies in Daviess County responded Wednesday evening to reports of gunfire and a possible burglary on Cannonade Loop North. A neighbor had alerted authorities to a man outside his home with what was believed to be a rifle and the sound of a shot and yelling. Deputies found Ira B. Dyer III, who claimed five people had broken in and that he fired at them, but the investigation found no signs of forced entry or a burglary. Dyer, a convicted felon, was taken into custody for firing a shotgun and illegally possessing the weapon. No injuries or property damage occurred.
