As part of the Volunteer Owensboro Minute, presented by American Legion Post 9, I recently had the chance to sit down with the Kiwanis Club of Owensboro to talk about their mission and the role they play in strengthening our community.
The Kiwanis Club of Owensboro is deeply rooted in service, with a strong focus on helping children and supporting local initiatives that make a lasting impact. Their work brings people together with a shared purpose, creating opportunities to give back while building meaningful connections across Owensboro.
One of the highlights of our conversation was their largest fundraiser of the year, the Kiwanis Chili Cook-Off, happening on February 28th. This annual event is about more than just great chili. It is a chance for local groups, businesses, and organizations to come together, compete in a fun and friendly environment, and raise money for causes that matter to them and to the Kiwanis Club.
The Chili Cook-Off is a true community event. Different groups raise funds for their own efforts while also supporting the Kiwanis Club and their ongoing service projects. It is a powerful example of how collaboration and volunteerism can multiply impact across the community.
The Volunteer Owensboro Minute is all about spotlighting organizations that make a difference, and the Kiwanis Club of Owensboro is a perfect example of service in action. Mark your calendar for February 28th, come hungry, and support an event that brings Owensboro together for a great cause.
