DC SHERIFF
A fatal collision occurred early Wednesday morning in the Ensor community of Eastern Daviess County. Shortly after 5:30 am, emergency responders were dispatched to the 8500 block of Highway 144 near Botelor Road. Authorities report a westbound pickup truck and an eastbound SUV collided head-on. The driver of the pickup, identified as Joseph Prater of Reynolds Station, was pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV’s driver, Charles Mattingly, suffered multiple broken bones and internal injuries and was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital. The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the crash.
