A serious accident occurred early Thursday morning in Owensboro, prompting an extensive emergency response. At about 5:15 am, authorities were notified of a collision involving a car and a cyclist on US Highway 60 West, near Oakford Road. The driver, who was uninjured, reported traveling westbound when the incident happened. The bicyclist, later identified as a missing person from Hopkins County, was severely injured and flown to an Evansville hospital for urgent care. Officials noted that the rider wore dark clothing and the bicycle lacked proper lights or reflectors. No criminal charges are expected as the investigation continues.
