Three Kentucky counties won’t receive FEMA assistance for the severe storms in April and May. Yesterday, Governor Andy Beshear’s office confirmed that individual assistance for Christian and Todd Counties was denied, in addition to public assistance being denied for Leslie County. This was related to the deadly storms that hit the region two months ago. Federal officials also denied Governor Beshear’s request for the Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grant Program for the impact of the April flooding and the May tornadoes. FEMA argued the storm impacts did not meet certain criteria for severity and magnitude of damage or losses in the proposed counties.
