Elkhart Lake, WI (June 24, 2025) – It was a blistering hot day at Road America in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin for the INDY NXT series annual visit to the 14-turn road course. With temperatures reaching the mid 90’s, an added variable was added to race day.
Jordan Missig and lead engineer Phil Arscott, worked diligently through practice and qualifying on the number 48 Nexus Towing machine, each session getting them closer and closer to the needed window for the race.
“The weekend in general for us was a successful one. We were a bit off when we rolled off the truck, but we kept working through practice and qualifying getting the car dialed in and I really think we got there and had a great car for the race,” said the Jolliet Illinois native.
Unfortunately for Missig, contact with another car in the early portion of the race damaged his front wing forcing him to pit and lose positions.
“We had just as much pace as our teammates, and the guys in front of us but unfortunately had some circumstances that were out of our control and affected my race causing me to have to drop to the back and salvage what we could,” said Jordan Missig.
Jack William Miller showed strong pace throughout the weekend, resulting in his best qualifying result in INDY NXT by Firestone competition.
“Overall it was an awesome weekend at Road America, we had a bit of work to do in the beginning but once we hit on the setup the Patterson Dental / HomeLink machines was fast,” exclaimed Miller.
Starting fifth on the grid, Miller had his sights set on the front and battled hard to work through traffic, but ultimately had to settle with matching his season best finish of seventh.
“It was hard to gain ground during the race but I feel like we made the best of the situation and brought the car home seventh, but I learned a ton. I want to thank both Patterson Dental and HomeLink for their continued support, and to all the amazing fans that showed up to cheer us on all weekend,” stated Miller.
INDY NXT Sophomore, Callum Hedge, was pleased with the handling of the number 17 car, but just didn’t have the qualifying session he needed to be battling up front for a podium.
“We had a clean weekend at Road America, and had the pace to be on the podium but ultimately I just didn’t get a draft during qualifying so we started further back than we would have liked,” explained the Kiwi.
With a technical issue affecting Push to Pass across the 19 car field, Hedge knew that passing would be at an even bigger premium throughout the 20 laps.
“We were thrown for a bit of a loop when we found out that no one had Push to Pass, which made attempting passes that much harder. I think if we would have had it active, the 17 car would have been fighting for a podium because we really did have great race pace. We will keep pushing forward as a group to Mid-Ohio,” said Callum Hedge.
Fresh off of his best finish in INDY NXT to date at the World Wide Technology Raceway, Myles Rowe was keen to keep that championship momentum rolling during the weekend at Road America.
“Always love going to Road America, the track and the fans have such an energy that it’s hard not to have an amazing time there. We showed some pace but unfortunately just didn’t have that extra bit to challenge up front,” explained Rowe.
After qualifying sixth, Rowe knew he had some work to do to make up ground on the championship leaders ahead of him, but felt that his number 99 ABEL Motorsports with Force Indy car was up for the challenge.
“We didn’t have the outright pace needed for the pole, but I felt like we had a car that that handled well and had great pace in traffic. Unfortunately without Push to Pass we had to adjust our plans a bit, and just wasn’t able to make up the ground like we had hoped. We’re going to keep pushing and working hard, but proud of all the ABEL Motorsports guys for their efforts, ready to get back to work at Mid-Ohio,” exclaimed Myles Rowe.
It’s a quick turnaround for ABEL Motorsports as the series makes a detour to the Milwaukee Mile on Tuesday June 24th for a one-day test ahead of the race on August 24th.
