
An assault call Tuesday resulted in the arrest of a man ccused of deserting the Navy. On Tuesday night, Daviess County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) patrol deputies responded to an assault call in the 3500 Block of Fields Road near Thruston. A female resident of the home reported being assaulted by her boyfriend, Christian Crite, who fled the home prior to deputy arrival. Deputies were familiar with the address having been there recently at the request of the US Navy to check for Crite who had an active warrant for desertion. The victim, who was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital (OHRH) to be treated for her injuries.
A short time later, Owensboro Police Department patrol officers observed a person matching Crite’s description walking on Hwy. 54 near Planet Fitness and attempted to stop him, but he fled on foot into a nearby field. Nearby deputies responded to the area as well and during a foot chase a DCSO patrol deputy injured his leg and had to be taken to OHRH for treatment. A perimeter was established and following a lengthy search of the area utilizing K9s and drones, Crite was not located. The injured deputy is expected to return to work in approximately two weeks.
The following morning, Wednesday, May 14 th , DCSO deputies received information that Crite was back at the residence on Field Road. Deputies located Crite asleep in a bedroom and took him into custody without further incident. He was taken to the Daviess County Detention Center and lodged on several local charges as well as the US Navy’s charge.
