(Owensboro, KY): Windy Hollow Raceway Park will kick off their season this weekend with two events marking the beginning of a busy 2025 season.
Windy Hollow Dragway will kickstart its racing season on Friday, April 18th with the first Test-N-Tune of the season on the 1/8 mile track. The track had planned to start the season on Friday, April 11th but flood waters blocked travel to the track, forcing track management to cancel.
“The track was in great shape, but no one could get to it,” said track promoter, Trevor Hutchins.
Friday night will bring the opportunity for drivers to make their first passes down the track for the season. The track will also host a trophy race with the winner taking home a trophy and $100 (if 10 or more cars enter).
“Do you have what it takes to beat your buddies and your enemies on the track? Put your money where your mouth is and take it off the street and onto the strip,” said track announcer, Blake Smith.
On Saturday, Windy Hollow Raceway Park will host its season opening car show at Applebees in Owensboro. The car show is open to dirt track cars, asphalt cars, drag cars, show cars, street cars, motorcycles and go-carts.
“In 2024, we filled every parking spot at Applebees with show vehicles, and even had to park some in the mall. We want to see everything and everyone at the car show,” said Hutchins.
The event will take place from 1pm-4pm, with awards being distributed at 3:30pm. Applebees will have food and drink specials during the event. Those participating in the car show will also have the opportunity to win one of two free half-wraps from High Octane wraps and apparel.
