
One person is hurt after a hit and run Tuesday on the Bypass. At approximately 6:20am, Owensboro – Daviess County Central Dispatch received a report of a hit and run accident in the 1900 block of the US 60 Wendell Ford Expressway. Deputies arrived and spoke with the caller who advised he was eastbound on Hwy. 60 and that a Ford F-250 entered Hwy. 60 from the ramp coming from Hwy. 54. He further stated that the F-250 left the onramp and crossed all eastbound lanes then suddenly slowed to make a U-turn. He stated that he was unable to stop in time to avoid a collision and struck the F-250 causing significant damage to both vehicles. Immediately following the impact, the F-250 completed the U-turn and left the area going west on Hwy. 60. The caller suffered a head injury in the wreck and his vehicle was completely disabled and left blocking the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 60. He was treated at the scene by AMR medics.
Responding deputies were alerted that an F-250 had left the area. Deputies located and stopped it in the 2400 block of Hwy. 54. The damage to the vehicle indicated that it was the F-250 that had left the scene of the wreck, and the driver had a head injury as well. The F-250 driver stated that he did not know he had been in a wreck and was cited for Leaving the Scene of an Accident/Failure to Render Aid. He was also treated at the scene. Eastbound Hwy. 60 at Hwy. 54 was closed for approximately 1 hour while the scene was cleared.
