In Ohio County, a young couple faces serious charges after allegedly leaving their small children unattended. 24-year-old Jessica M. Aquilar and 23-year-old Julio C. Velazquez Hernandez were arrested on Monday, facing two counts each of Criminal Abuse and Wanton Endangerment. Authorities were alerted and conducted a welfare check in Centertown where they found a 3-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy alone at home while their parents were reportedly at work. The children are now in the care of the Department for Community Based Services.
