Governor Andy Beshear is joining forces with the American Federation of Teachers to voice opposition to Amendment 2. The governor was joined by advocates for a roundtable discussion in Lexington to encourage voters to vote no. The amendment asks if a change should be made to the Kentucky Constitution to allow school funds to be used for non-public schools. Opposers of the measure believe the removal of funds from public school programs will result in more cuts. Bluegrass Institute President Jim Walters believes a yes vote would bring a higher quality education through school competition. Voters will decide on November 5th.
