An Owensboro man is dead after what’s being called a reckless homicide. According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, Wednesday at around 10:07pm, Central Dispatch received a 911 call reporting that a person had been shot at an apartment in the 4300 Block of Gateway Drive in East Daviess County. Deputies, along with the Daviess County Fire Department, Thruston Fire
Department, and AMR Ambulance were dispatched, and upon arrival, deputies located an unconscious male subject in the living room of the apartment with a gunshot wound. Deputies
and medical personnel began life saving measures and the victim was transported to the Emergency Department of Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
DCSO General Investigation detectives and the Daviess County Coroner’s Office responded to continue the investigation. Multiple firearms were located in the room where the shooting occurred including a handgun that was reported stolen out of Owensboro. Two subjects that were present during the shooting were taken to DCSO where they were interviewed by detectives. Detectives determined that the victim and two of his friends were smoking marijauna and playing with handguns in an unsafe manner and that a handgun fired striking the victim in the head.
