Kristin Atwell has been named principal at Deer Park Elementary School. The announcement was made Tuesday afternoon prior to a reception to welcome Atwell to her new role. She will begin her new duties on July 1. Atwell has been with Daviess County Public Schools since 2005. She started her educational career with Burns Middle School as an 8th grade teacher. Over the next 5 years, she taught 8th grade students focusing on English Language Arts and Social Studies. Atwell is currently serving as assistant principal at Deer Park Elementary School, a position she has held for the last ten years. Atwell graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2013 with a Master of Education Administration in Levels 1 and 2. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Middle Grades Education from the University of Kentucky in 2005.
