Owensboro, KY (June 17, 2024): Despite warm temperatures, and competing area drag racing events, fans and drivers turned out to Windy Hollow Dragway for a weekend of drag racing action at the famed Daviess County track.
On Friday night, the track hosted “Friday Night Fun” which included test and tune and a trophy race. In the trophy race, it was Rodney Cornwell in the Pontiac Sunbird taking home the win over Owensboro’s “Bombshell Barbie” in her Chrysler Pacifica minivan.
On Saturday, the track hosted it’s second round of WDRA Summit Sportsman Drag Racing for the 2024 season.
In the Super Pro class, it was Philpot’s Cody Field taking home the win in his Chevy Malibu, taking home his second win in the young points season, and the $750 winner’s check.
In the Pro class, it was Eastview’s Diane Ratliff taking a break from farming with her husband David, that took her 1985 “Thunnderstruck” Thunderbird to victory lane beating out Elizabethtown’s Luke Wiseman for the win.
Luke Wiseman continued his winning ways into the second race of the season taking home the win in both Factory Street and Sportsman.
In the Junior Dragsters, it was Hadley Tanaka of Henderson beating out Addy Knott in the final round.
In the Saturday night trophy class, it was Roger Brooks from Clay, Ky beating out Bombshell Barbie for the win.
Windy Hollow Dragway will be back in action this weekend with Friday Night Fun and WDRA Summit Sportsman Drag Racing on Saturday and will be shifting to summer hours. Gates on Saturday will open at 3, time trials at 5pm and racing at 7pm.
