2002 Daytona 500 Champion, Ward Burton will return to the driver’s seat at a familiar track in March.
Burton will return to the driver’s seat for the Orange Krush 200 Invitational Late Model Race at Orange County Speedway in Rougemount, NC on Thursday, March 28th.
The North Carolina track holds a special place for Burton as he took the checkers in a Busch Grand National Race there in May of 1993, leading 259 of 300 laps.
The 62-year old racer hasn’t competed in a race since since 2012.
Ward will join his son, Jeb Burton on the entry list among others including Owensboro-native, Jeremy Mayfield.
According to a press release, proceeds from the ticket sales of the Rogers Heating & Cooling Orange Krush 200 will benefit the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation, which is a 501c3 non-profit organization that was founded in 1996.
The Orange Krush 200 will include interactive experiences, at no additional cost, for fans in attendance including a pre-race autograph session featuring all competitors and surprise guests.
