
On Monday at 12:11pm, officers with the Owensboro Police Department responded to an EPO violation complaint. Officers spoke with the complainant who advised she was receiving threatening messages from William Cody Ballard and an active protective order existed. Officers were familiar with Ballard whom was known to have multiple outstanding Felony warrants. Officers responded to the 1700 Block of Lee Court and observed Ballard exiting the residence. When Ballard observed officers, he ran back inside the residence. Officers gave chase to the basement of the residence where Ballard was ultimately apprehended. While officers were apprehending Ballard in the basement, officers observed multiple firearms, narcotics, and drug paraphernalia items. Detectives with the Owensboro Police Department Street Crimes Unit responded to the scene. Detectives and Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence. The search warrant resulted in the seizure of 19 Firearms, over 100 suspected Fentanyl pills, approximately 14 grams of Psilocybin mushrooms, and various drug paraphernalia items.
Arrested: William Cody Ballard (28 years old of Owensboro). Ballard was transported to the Daviess County Detention Center and booked on the following charges:
– Violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO (14 Counts) (Bench Warrant)
– Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 1st Offense (Carfentanil or Fentanyl Derivatives) (Enhancement)
– Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 2nd Degree, 1st Offense (Greater than or Equal to 10 Dosage Units Hallucinogen) (Enhancement)
– Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd Degree (On Foot)
– Theft by Unlawful Taking – Shoplifting (Bench Warrant)
Ballard has previously been charged with the following:
– Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Greater Than or Equal to 10 Dosage Units Drug Unspecified) (Enhancement)
– Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 3rd Degree, 1st Offense (Less Than 20 Dosage Units Drug Unspecified) (Enhancement)
– Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine)
– Possession Controlled Substance 3rd Degree – Drug Unspecified
– Possession Drug Paraphernalia
– Probation Violation (For Felony Offense)
– Probation Violation (For Technical Offense)
– Public Intoxication Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol)
– Theft by Unlawful Taking – Shoplifting
