***UPDATE*** (December 21, 2023) – Breathitt Kelley, previously reported missing, has been located and confirmed deceased in Jessamine County, KY.
The discovery follows an exhaustive investigation, with crucial information provided to Post 2 Detectives, leading our investigative team to Jessamine County, where Mr. Kelley’s vehicle was found. The Jessamine County Sheriff’s Department had an unidentified body located on November 16, 2023, and through familial DNA testing and other medical records, Mr. Kelley was positively identified on December 20, 2023.
The Jessamine County Sheriff’s Department is currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr. Kelley’s death. However, preliminary findings suggest that foul play is not suspected.

On Monday, November 27 at approximately 6:36pm, Kentucky State Police Post 2 received a call of a missing person in Muhlenberg County. Breathitt Kelly (AKA Bret), 52, of Central City last spoke with his family approximately two months ago. Kelly is described as a white male, 6’ 00”, 155 pounds, with brown hair, hazel eyes, and possibly a beard. Kelly operates a blue 1990 Ford Aerostar Van bearing license plate 227BXV. Kelly is known to frequent Lincoln, Madison, Carlisle, Garrard, Calloway, and Marshall Counties.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Breathitt Kelly is asked to contact Kentucky State Police, Post 2 at (270) 676-3313.
