(Owensboro, KY)- Tyler Nicely Racing added the role of track promoter to his resume’ this season with the purchase of Rockport Raceway, but that didn’t take away from his 2023 season behind the wheel.
The Owensboro driver brought home two championships this season, both in the Summer Nationals Series as well as the overall Dirt Car UMP National Title.
The DIRTcar Summer Nationals series consisted of 25 races over a 33-day period from at tracks spread across Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Missouri during the months of June and July.
The UMP DIRTcar Series kicked off during Speedweeks in February and ran through the end of September.
Throughout the 2023 season, Nicely accumulated 26 wins in 59 races, along with 43 podium (top 3 finishes).
“Winning both championships means everything to me and my family. We’ve been close a time or two, but this year we was finally able to put it all together. Picking up the National and Summer National title means everything” said Nicely.
Nicely and his team went through some changes between the 2022 and 2023 season that Nicely said facilitated the improvement.
Nicely said “We switched back to an elite chassis this year and it definitely got me comfortable again and knew what we had to do to compete.”
The post season has included a purchase of a CRA Street Stock that Nicely has competed with at various events including the Halloween 200 at Salem Speedway and All-American 400 weekend at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.
Nicely and his team are preparing a new modified, and a new CRA Street Stock car that he plans to focus on more in the 2024 season.
