OWENSBORO, KY – Vinyl record fans attending the 21st year of ROMP, the annual festival by the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum, June 26-29, 2024, have a new reason to celebrate. The inaugural ROMP & Roll Record Show takes place during the festival weekend, June 28-30, 2024, a short trolley ride away at the Owensboro Convention Center.
Presented by For the Record Vinyl in conjunction with Visit Owensboro, ROMP & Roll Record Show features 100 tables filled with thousands of music items throughout this three-day event.
This immersive exploration of musical treasures offers new and pre-loved LPs, 45s, CDs, cassettes, memorabilia, posters, storage supplies, and more. As the name suggests, music items
span various genres, from bluegrass, Americana, and country to classic rock, pop, metal, prog rock, & 80s hits, and more.
“Whether you are new to vinyl or have been collecting for decades, you will feel right at home at this event.” For the Record Founder and Event Organizer Jeremy D. Bonfiglio said.
“Our shows are much more than a retail marketplace. They are designed to celebrate a vibrant community that is passionate about music. Our vendors are collectors, so they share the excitement when customers find a record they’ve been searching for or discover music they didn’t even know they needed.”
For those who have never attended a record show but enjoy the experience of visiting record stores – sifting through bins, examining records, and engaging in music discussions – this is a
can’t-miss event.
“We are so excited to bring ROMP & Roll Record Show to Owensboro,” said Teresa Jones, Destination Account Executive at Visit Owensboro.
“My husband and I started collecting vinyl again about two years ago, and every week, we scan the tristate looking for new albums. I started asking what it would take to bring a vinyl record show to Owensboro, and that’s when I was introduced to Jeremy. Not only does he organize several shows in Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio, but he’s an Eastern Kentucky grad with a deep love for our state. So, it felt like a great fit.”
Jones also sought the advice of Terry Woodward, owner of Wax Works, Inc., who was inducted into the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame in 2018.
“Bringing a vinyl record show to Owensboro is a great idea,” he said. It’s hard to believe that I was selling vinyl at its peak in the 70s and 80s, and here we are 50 years later, and it’s still a hot-
selling item. I can’t keep Taylor Swift and Frank Sinatra vinyl in stock.”
