(Madison, IL)- The Bommarito Automotive Group 500 began under cloudy skies, with unseasonable temperatures with temps in the mid-70s with a refreshing breeze.
At the end, it was Scott Dixon in the winner’s circle as the sun shine broke through the clouds and the New Zealand Driver claimed his 55th win of his career.
Dixon started in the 16th position, but utilized a fast car and fuel mileage to win his 2nd race in a row in the NTT INDYCAR Series.
“There was definitely some tense moments,” said Dixon. I think the hardest part was the restart where we were leading and had to get a pretty high fuel number and we weren’t getting it. We were a ways off but I knew we could kind of stretch the 2nd through 5th pack.”
Pato O’Ward finished in the 2nd position followed by David Malukas, Alexander Rossi and Scott McLaughlin rounded out the top 5.
“Good points obviously, but another second for 2023. Scott Dixon pulled a Scott Dixon,” said O’Ward.
Points leader Alex Palou finished in the 7th position and has a 73 point lead over Sunday’s winner, Dixon with 2 races left in the season.
The penultimate race of the season will be the Bitnile Grand Prix of Portland on Sunday, September 3rd at 2pm. Coverage will be Live on 1027 The Game with coverage brought to you by Battery Headquarters.
