On Monday at approximately 11:58 A.M., Officers with the Owensboro Police Department responded to a Shooting in the 2900 Block of Arizona Court. Officers made contact with a juvenile male victim and found him to have a gunshot wound to the leg. Officers processed the scene and located evidence related to the shooting. The male victim was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital by American Medical Response with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene, interviewed witnesses, and continued their investigation. During the investigation, a stolen firearm was recovered. Detectives were able to develop a suspect (16 year old male) and subsequently interviewed him at the Owensboro
Police Department. Following interviews, the juvenile was charged and transported to Warren County Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
The Juvenile was charged with:
– Assault 1st Degree
– Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree
– Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm)
– Possession of a Handgun by a Minor 1st Offense
– Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree
